Groundwork makes commitments and other financial decisions on behalf of participants in advance of the course based upon enrollment, so there are financial responsibilities that each registrant is accountable for in cases of participant cancellation. The following policies apply in all cases, regardless of the reason the participant chooses to cancel their participation in the course.
Please read the following policies based on the course you have registered for.
Open-enrollment courses 3 or more days in length
- A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration to reserve and hold your space.
- Full tuition is due 75 days from course start date. For participants registering within 75 days of course start date, full tuition is required to reserve a space.
- If you withdraw from an open-enrollment course
- More than 45 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 50% of the course tuition.
- Within 21-45 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 75% of the course tuition.
- Within 21 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 100% of course tuition.
Open-enrollment courses 1 or 2 Days in Length:
- Full tuition is due at time of registration to reserve your space.
- Refund policy is the same as the open enrollment courses 3 or more days in length.
Courses with an interview process:
- A $150 application fee is due with your application. If you are not accepted to the course, 50% of this application fee is refundable.
- A 50% non-refundable deposit is due upon your acceptance to reserve a space.
- Full tuition is due 75 days from course start date. For participants accepted within 75 days of course start date, full tuition is required to reserve a space.
- If you withdraw from a course with a competitive application process:
- More than 75 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 60% of course tuition.
- Within 21-75 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 75% of the course tuition.
- Within 21 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 100% of the course tuition.
Course Cancellation:
If Groundwork cancels a course for any reason, Groundwork will do its best to refund tuition that has not been invested into course preparation. At its sole discretion, Groundwork may retain up to 40% of tuition based on costs incurred to prepare for a course.
Leaving a Course:
If you need to leave a course for any reason, whether due to factors out of your control (e.g. medical evacuation) or personal decision, tuition is non-refundable.
Basket Class Cancellation Policy:
In order to keep the folk school running, we have a strict cancellation policy:
Greater than 10 days from a class, you may:
- Cancel your registration and receive an 80% refund.
- Transfer your registration to a future class.
- Transfer your registration to another person with no fee.
Within 10 days of a class, we cannot offer any refunds. Instead, you may:
- Transfer your registration to another person with no fee
- Inquire if we have a waitlist. If we can fill your spot from a waitlist, you may take any of the options above.
Our folk school classes require lots of planning and preparation. We begin preparing materials well in advance (e.g. soaking willow in water for 10 days), as well as paying for venues, travel, and instructor fees. Thanks for your understanding!
