Before the advent of chemical dyes in 1856, clothing color came from plants. These plants still grow all around us, offering a fun, natural alternative to toxic chemical dyes. The clothing industry . Join Jenna Bradford for a day studying the basics of natural dyes. Topics include: dye chemistry, mordanting, harvesting and cultivating dye plants, and dying different fibers.
You’ll finish the class with multiple silk scarves dyed with plants and printed with natural leaf patterns.
