During this weekend we will learn to process Dogbane and other plant fibers into twine and cordage from the stalk and also learn to weave that cordage along with other fibers into soft twined baskets. We will learn to ID Dogbane and other regional plants in the field that can be used to make cordage, rope or baskets. The baskets we start can be used as pouches, covers for drinking vessels, hip bags and more. Plant based cordage and soft fiber baskets have lineages around the world; and we will discuss the ethnobotanical importance and cultural significance of both. We will meet for two immersive days of plant fiber processing and basket weaving.
